Embrace the darkness on the longest night of the year by joining together in song!
For thousands of years people have gathered together in community to sing on the Winter Solstice. By firelight, they danced around stone circles to celebrate the start of winter and mark the return of more sun-filled days. This year, Crowdsource Choir continues the ancient tradition with a modern spin.
We'll be singing "The Dark" by SYML, one of my favorite local Seattle artists. Themes of flickering fire, waning faith, self-doubt, and the regenerative powers of darkness thrum through the song, emoting the feelings surrounding the Winter Solstice. The mood and melody welcome the dark as a "sacred place" where one can learn to love again, ultimately making it a beautiful and fitting tribute to this special time of year.
Stick around after singing to hear dark-themed songs performed by Crowdsource Choir musicians: Joel DeJong, Dave Stewart, and Evan Flory Barnes.
